Newspaper story: Edwin Heist, seven years old, and Melton Miller,
six
years old, both of Clarence, broke through the ice in a pond on
Buchheit
Farm yesterday and were drowned. The bodies were found last night by
neighbors.
The boys left home yesterday afternoon. When they did not return for
supper,
the search was started.
The broken ice told the story of the tragedy. The bodies were found
in about six feet of water. Edwin Heist was the son of Charles Heist,
superintendent of public schools in Clarence, NY.
