Born in Apalachicola, Florida the second daughter of Edward Gheen Cheyney and Harriet Frances Porter.
Lucie was married in 1932 to Robert Arthur Manke, who was the son of August Adolph Manke and Pansy Roberts.

Their children were: Robert Gheen, Richard Cheyney, and Susan Virginia Manke.
