Wife of William Detenbeck. Their children were Wilbert, Linda (Dot), Grace, Valla, and Doris Detenbeck.

Melissa was later known as "Aunt Mella" or "Mum." She was the mother of Grace (Detenbeck) Nigh, and the grandmother of Lorraine (Nigh) Hampel.

She lived in the "big house" on the Niagara River, Canada.
