Arthur Caswell Vulgamore, known as Caswell, was born March 20, 1837 in Pike County, Ohio, the son of Joseph Martin Vulgamore and Susannah Layton. His second wife, shown here, was the former Mary Ann Pitt, born October 16, 1851 at Nashville, Tennessee.

Caswell and Mary were married December 10, 1871 at Chautauqua County, Kansas. Caswell's obituary says he had eleven children, seven of whom are pictured here.
