Born in Atlanta, Georgia on July 24, 1898 and died August 4, 1942.
Blind since early childhood he grew to be a very resourceful man and provider for a family of five as a salesman selling life insurance along with every day notions and general household articles. Michael attended the Georgia Academy for the Blind in Macon, Georgia. He played the violin, sang, wrote and published music with a Dorothy Ivey who was a friend.
He met Clara Yarbrough at the academy and they married in 1928. Their three children were Henry Dallas Spinks III, Clara Lillian Spinks, Juliet Parmalee Spinks.
