Born March 18, 1913 probably in Newnan, Georgia.

He was an auto mechanic most of his life and was first married to Clara Mae Herron. Their six children were: Lawrence Eugene, Robert Manuel, Jack Edward, Barbara Ann, Helen Jacquelyn, and Dorothy Ruth Mote.

In 1945 he moved west to Virginia and married his second wife Marjorie Davis Lyons. His name was changed then when he let his wife, who thought his name was spelled Moat, sign the marriage license and Reese never said anything about it. Their five children were: Sharon Jean, Kay, John, Mike, and Judy Lynn Moat.
