william hugh mcwhorterWilliam Hugh McWhorter 1894-1979

Born in Buckhead, Morgan County, Georgia the son of John Welby McWhorter and Eva Douglas Zuber. He was married in 1914 to Edina Lee Fenwick and they moved to Lake City, Florida where Hugh joined his father who was in the newspaper business there.

In 1922 they moved to Decatur, Georgia where Hugh became co-owner and managing editor for The DeKalb New Era and retired after forty-three years of service. In 1945 he was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives and served two terms in the State Senate.
