Richard Gibbs Porter, Jr. 1866-1939

Born in Apalachicola, Florida, the last of seven children of Richard Gibbs Porter and Mary Tibbits Salter.

He was married in 1900 to Steptoe Irene Rice, known as Steppie, who was the daughter of Stephen Ewing Rice and Emily Irwin Pickett. He was president of the Gulf Manufacturing Company and secretary-treasurer of the Apalachicola Electric Light & Telephone Company.

Their children were: Richard Gibbs III, Edward Swindell, and Emily Mary Porter.
