Peter McKercher 1849-1932

Born in Athol, Ontario, Canada, the son of Duncan McKercher and Janette McLaren. He engaged in the real estate business and worked chiefly as a surveyor of lands granted by the United States Government to the Northern Pacific railway. Peter was married in 1875 to Agnes Young Aitchison and settled in Clear Lake, Iowa where their four children were born: Jennie Bell Victoria, Margaret Amelia, James Cecil, and Agnes Donaldo McKercher. In 1893 Peter moved his family to North Dakota.
