William Fletcher Robertson, Sr. 1876-1961

Known as Fletcher, he was born in Rutledge, Morgan County, Georgia, the son of William Franklin Robertson and Eugenia Frances Davis.

He attend the Southern Business College in 1899 and secured a position as manager of the Hodgson Oil Refining Company at Farmington. He was married that same year to Eva L. Blasingame of Walton County. Eva died in 1916 at only thirty-eight years of age. There were no children.

His business ventures included the purchase and modernization of an old mill situated on Rocky Creek near Rutledge with his brother-in-law, Carey McHugh as a partner, and later a working-partnership in a fertilizer warehouse in Gainesville. He retired from business during the Great Depression and moved his family to Lyons, Georgia where they lived comfortably with a small farm.

Fletcher was married a second time to Julia Pope McWhorter who was the daughter of John Welby McWhorter and Eva Douglas Zuber. To Fletcher and Julia were born five children: Eva Mae (who died in infancy), William Fletcher Jr., Douglas Welby, Charles Francis, and Sara Helen Robertson.
