Sylvia Sharp was born May 19, 1836 at Marcellus, Onondaga County, New York. She was the third of seven daughters of Jacob Van Alstyne Sharp and his wife, the former Mary Chatfield.
Sylvia married Chester Clark, Jr., also of Onondaga County, New York March 17, 1854 in Auburn, New York. Sylvia and Chester lived at Sharon Center, Ohio until April 17, 1860 when they moved to Watson Creek, Minnesota.
Sylvia and Chester had two children who lived to adulthood (Alice May Clark and Mary Lorena Clark) and two who died in childhood.
Sylvia died November 30, 1905 at Pasadena, Los Angeles, California a few weeks after she and her husband moved there from Watson Creek, Minnesota. Her funeral was held at the home of her sister Frances (Mrs. Lyman Denton) and she is buried at Mt. View Cemetery, Pasadena, California.
Sylvia was the great great grandmother of Andra Ilene Riggs Schmidt
